Bifrost is the SFSFW's wargaming show.
Bifrost 2006 has been cancelled. We hope to revive it in 2007.
The Society of Fantasy and Science Fiction Wargamers (SFSFW) is an international body dedicated to promoting the fantasy and science fiction genre within the table top wargaming hobby and also to promote the hobby in general. The society produces a journal "Ragnarok" featuring industry news, articles and game and miniature reviews. A newsletter Nastrond is also circulated to members and a number of specialist groups within the society produce their own newsletters. The society operates a busy electronic mailing list and has a growing web site where more information can be found.
Wargaming began as a tool to teach strategy and tactics to military officers through games such as "Kriegspiel". Civilian gaming grew from these roots but only really began to take off after H.G. Wells wrote "Little Wars" in 1913. Since then the hobby has grown in many different directions. Historical time periods, fantasy and science fiction settings can all be simulated. In short table top wargaming is a simulation of a military conflict using either miniature figures, cardboard counters and a playing board, or computers.
